Monastery of Saints Anargyroi
The Monastery of Saints Anargyroi is located near Ermioni, in a beautiful green area overlooking the sea. It is one of the most important historical monasteries of Ermioni and was probably built between the 11th and 14th centuries. According to tradition, it was built on an ancient sanctuary of Asclepius, the god of medicine.
During the Ottoman occupation, the monastery helped the region and the Revolution of 1821. The monastery is dedicated to Saints Anargyroi, Kosmas and Damianos, who helped people without taking money. There is a spring with holy water in the monastery, which is considered miraculous. Visitors can see old frescoes, a wooden carved iconostasis, icons and the beautiful courtyard with cypress trees. The monastery celebrates on July 1 and November 1, when a large festival is held.
